I really like baby carrots. They have such a big crunch and they take forever to chew and swallow, so you end up eating less which is good from the caloric intake point of view. They're such a bright, perky orange. It makes me wonder why are carrots so happy? An orange like that has to indicate happiness. Maybe it is just a facade to hide their despair.

I think they have to be optimistic and cheery to survive months of sitting in dirt. I don't think I could be so happy underground in the cold for so many months only to be plucked up and eaten. Carrots are truly brave creatures. And they have a sweet name in Spanish.
